Competency 4.2
Speak live
Boundary this domain describes capacities of judgement and direction, never software. No tool is named in its descriptors: tools change every six months, the capacities that govern them remain.
Definition
Speaking, improvising and engaging in real time: live streaming, podcasting, webinars, public speaking. Live is a format in its own right, not reducible to recorded video: it exposes you without the possibility of a retake, and creates, precisely for that reason, a bond of authenticity that no editing can replace.
Components
- Structuring a speech: rapid preparation, mental outline, time management
- Voice and presence: pace, gaze, posture, addressing the camera or the room
- Interacting with the audience: messages, questions, live responses
- Improvisation: reacting to the unexpected, turning an incident into a moment
- Managing stage fright and exposure
- Specifics of live formats: rhythm, rituals, co-hosting
